Inborn Error Screening Results

We got the call today that Luke’s Inborn Error Screening results are in and the doctor has reviewed them.  The findings: Slightly hypoglycemic, slightly elevated amino acids.  In other words, it’s somewhat inconclusive.  Since this was a urine test, the doctor ordered a serum amino test, which will measure these levels and other things directly from the blood.

This is a little scary, since it can be a sign of a mitochondrial defect.  I suppose only time will tell what is going on with our little guy.
